Venky Rao joined the Meta Board of Directors in 2022. He is passionate about mental health and has had the privilege of serving in this field for over 30 years in a range of roles. After graduating from Bangalore University with a Masters degree in psychology, he has contributed to the field as a researcher, teacher, clinician, administrator and policy maker.
In India, he worked in the frontlines as a psychologist at a school for underprivileged children and in hospitals and clinics. Following an earthquake, he served as a psychosocial consultant in the UN for disaster management.
After moving to Canada, he worked in CMHA as manager of the Assertive Community Treatment Team (ACT team) for over a decade. He’s currently managing the Acquired Brain Injury (ABI) unit in COTA. He believes in personal growth and growth of organizations through collaborations, networks, and an openness to learning from staff, clients and families.
